Rachel Steinacher is IPA's Deputy Regional Director for East Africa. She has been with IPA since 2013. She most recently served as Country Director for IPA Tanzania, managing the development of IPA’s formal presence, country program, and portfolio of research in that country. Prior to that, she was part of IPA Kenya's Senior Management Team. She has led 30+ research projects in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Her management experience spans the sectors of water and sanitation, food security, poverty reduction / financial inclusion, mental health, cognitive development, health, and education.
Prior to joining IPA, Rachel worked as a resign and design specialist, principal investigator, and statistician for various NGOs in Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Canada, the United Kingdom, and United States. She holds an MSc in Evidence-Based Social Intervention from the University of Oxford and a BA(hons) in Peace and Conflict Studies and Political Science from the University of Toronto.
