​Pia Raffler is​ an Assistant Professor of Government at Harvard University. ​She is​ interested in the political economy of ​development, in particular in Sub-Saharan Africa. ​Her​ research focuses on political oversight of bureaucrats and implications for public service provision in local governments​ on the one hand ​and voting ​behavior in electoral autocracies on the other. She is currently working on a number of field trials related to local governance and accountability.
