As part of the Global 16 Days of Activism Campaign against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) 2023, IPA Uganda hosted an Evidence Summit in partnership with the Uganda Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development. Under the theme “UNiTE! Invest to Prevent and Respond to Violence Against Women and Girls,” the aim of the event was to share rigorous evidence and engage stakeholders in discussion of the critical role evidence play in eliminating violence against women and girls. Substantiated by evidence, IPA advocated for strategies such as couple counseling and challenging negative social norms as measures in reducing intimate partner violence.

IPA also featured a panel discussion with representatives from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, Raising Voices, Uganda Police Force and Makerere University. The panel examined the current state of violence against women and girls, noting that there are low reductions in instances of physical violence, while workplace violence and technology-facilitated violence were on the rise.
