On May 16th in Bogota, IPA and Asobancaria (with support from the Citi Foundation) co-hosted a workshop for 40 high- and mid-level policymakers and financial service providers interested in learning how rigorous evidence can help them better serve their customers. During the one-day event, attendees engaged in a series of discussions that encouraged them to think about how recent financial inclusion evidence applies to their institutions and how RCTs can be useful for decision-making.

Financial services providers and experts in financial capabilities discussed how insights from behavioral economics can be used to improve the design and delivery of financial products. Sebastian presented recent evidence from randomized evaluations of products and services that promote financial capability.

On 18 – 19 September, 2014, Accion hosted a seminar in Cartagena, Colombia around mobilizing savings among the poor in Latin America. IPA researcher Lasse Brune discussed recent data and research on savings among the poor and presented insights from impact evaluations of interventions and financial products designed to encourage savings among low-income households around the world.

Asobancaria (the banking association of Colombia), in collaboration with FELABAN (the Latin American Federation of Banks), hosted the 4th Regional Conference on Financial Education in Bogota, Colombia on October 10-11, 2013. The event brought together around 200 practitioners and policymakers interested in advancing good practices for consumer protection and financial education. Dylan Ramshaw represented IPA at the event.
