Dr Hangoma has over 10 years’ experience in the health sector conducting and coordinating both health facility and household surveys. Dr Hangoma has been consulted widely by International organizations and the Government of Zambia to evaluate a number of health programs, estimate and project costs and impacts of key health interventions, and provided input in health sector strategic and implementation plans. He has published in top development journals such as World Development and Journal of International Development and serves as an associate editor for the International Journal for Equity in Health (IJEH). He is a lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Zambia where he teaches graduate Statistics, Econometrics and Development Economics. He also serves as head of the Department of Health Policy and Management at the University of Zambia School of Public Health.
