Her work focuses on intergroup conflict, structural violence, and conflict resolution, with particular attention towards the experiences of members of the victim group. Michelle has also consulted on interventions aimed at conflict resolution, including a mass media intervention in Juba, South Sudan. Michelle has a PhD in Social Psychology from Clark University in Massachusetts, an M.Sc. in Developmental Psychology from University of Utah, and a B.A in Psychology and Political Science from the University of Ghana.
