Juan Mesa currently works as a Senior Research Associate for IPA Colombia in a research project on Medellín's organized crime. He has five years of research and public policy experience focused on crime, violence, and citizen security. Juan has experience using statistical methods, conducting economic experiments, and applying qualitative research techniques such as focus groups and in-depth interviews. He also has experience doing fieldwork in Medellín, interacting with Colombian law enforcement authorities, and designing evidence-based policing strategies. He has a Master's in Public Policy from Universidad de Los Andes and a Bachelor's in Political Science from Universidad EAFIT.
