Jérôme W Somé, is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Nutritional Sciences of the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His research interests are the relationship of agriculture, nutrition and health, and the links between nutrition and infectious diseases. He is currently working on the IMMANA project for which IPA is conducting the implementation of the field trial. This project aims at developing an innovative metric of the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Burkina and testing the associations of these livelihoods with nutrition outcomes. The project will also assess the effect of agricultural survey design on estimates of farmer livelihood characteristics, and on subsequent estimates of impacts on nutrition outcomes. Jérôme holds a Ph.D in Nutritional Biology with an emphasis in Community and International Nutrition from the University of California, Davis, and a MD in general practices from the University of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
