Agha Ali Akram's research work spans a number of themes including drinking water quality, immunization, migration and agriculture. He also has an interest in air-pollution monitoring technologies and how they may be deployed and used in the developing world.

Till recently, he was a Visiting Fellow (2016 - 2017) at Yale University's School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
