The Insurance Association of Malawi (IAM) is an umbrella body of all general insurance companies in Malawi and whose main responsibility is to self-regulate the industry in compliance with the requirements of the Registrar of Insurance and to draw up policy issues, ensuring that law and order prevail on the market.

The membership of the IAM is currently made up of all the seven general insurance companies in Malawi plus the only reinsurance company. All these companies but one are head quartered in Blantyre, the commercial city of Malawi whilst the other one is in Lilongwe, the country's Capital city.
