The Senior Content Manager, Research and Policy Communications will manage and directly execute strategic communications projects that support of IPA’s mission. As a senior member of IPA's Communications Team, the candidate will work closely with sector programs, country offices, the policy team and fundraising teams as well as implementing partners, funders, and some of the world’s top academics to manage and directly execute the production of fundraising materials, policy briefs, presentations, blog posts, website updates, emails, social media posts, and other major publications. The candidate will also be responsible for driving forward special communications projects, which will include evidence synthesis, partner and funder engagement, and implementing communications plans for high-profile research.

  • Manage content production queue and development process to ensure timely and quality production of core IPA research and policy products
  • Manage and support team of two policy and communications writers, including supporting prioritization processes and providing quality assurance reviews
  • Lead coordination on strategic communications projects with researchers, IPA country, sector and policy teams, as well as external implementing partners
  • Synthesize evidence and craft policy lessons on high-priority topics for key partners and  funders
  • Edit communications products to ensure quality, accuracy, and relevance for target  audiences
  • Source and produce high-quality communications materials for our donor audience, including storytelling, talking points, presentation support
  • Support with drafting internal and external communications (emails, blog posts, articles) by senior leaders at IPA
  • Support virtual and/or in-person events with presentation  drafting and messaging support
  • Lead and manage content creation for IPA’s external newsletters, our annual report, and other publications
  • Investigate the use of evidence from IPA’s work and manage the production of impact case studies that illustrate how evidence is being used to inform programs and policies
  • Contribute to and help execute IPA’s communications strategy and messaging, including cultivating IPA’s voice through our blog, social media platforms, and other communications avenues
  • Propose and execute updates to IPA’s website and publications to ensure content is fresh, timely, and relevant
  • Support senior leadership with talking points and other materials for high-level meetings  with policymakers, partners, and funders
  • Masters degree in economics, social sciences, public policy, communications, or related fields
  • 7+ years of experience in communications, writing, or policy analysis required. Exceptions can be made for excellent candidates who do not meet this criteria.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including ability to summarize academic evidence into plain language summaries and effectively communicate with internal and external audiences
  • Familiarity with quantitative research design and understanding results required
  • First-rate organizational skills and attention to detail required
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service to a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-starter; ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in French or Spanish a plus
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects efficiently
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Powerpoint, and GSuite)
  • Strong analytical skills a plus; familiarity with STATA or other statistical analysis software a plus
  • Salesforce experience preferred
