The Social Protection Program Coordinator will work closely with the rest of the Social Protection (SP) team, and the Policy & Communications (P&C) teams, to support the policy work done by the SP sector. They will be responsible for identifying social protection projects with forthcoming results, and liaising with the P&C teams to develop appropriate outputs such as policy briefs and webinars. The Program Coordinator will also be responsible for carrying out deep-dive evidence reviews on key social protection topics, and carrying out stakeholder mapping for potential new lines of research within the sector on topics such as universal basic income (UBI) and youth employment interventions. The ideal candidate will have an MA-level qualification in a social science field; ability to manage multiple projects on a tight schedule; strong written communication skills in English; and the ability to work effectively with global teams. The Program Coordinator can be based at any of the IPA offices in Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, or the US. (Please note that we cannot sponsor work permits or visas for this role, so candidates must already have work authorization for the country in which they would prefer to work.)
- Partner with the Associate Director to monitor the progress of social protection projects across IPA’s 22 country offices
- Collaborate with the Policy & Comms teams, and project PIs, to develop policy outreach plans for projects with forthcoming results
- Create and edit policy materials such as blog posts, policy briefs, and other knowledge products
- Organize webinars and conferences focused on social protection (with the support of the rest of the SP team)
- Perform in-depth evidence reviews on key social protection topics, including graduation from extreme poverty and universal basic income
- Engage in stakeholder mapping and interviews to help the SP sector develop new lines of research
- Other activities that support the SP sector at achieving its project funding, project development and policy impact goals
- Masters in a relevant social science field, such as economics, public policy, political science, or international development
- Coursework in graduate-level statistics, or demonstrated ability to interpret regression outputs
- At least three years’ work experience in research and evaluation or international development
- Demonstrated project management skills, including attention to operational and research detail and ability to manage multiple projects efficiently
- Fluency and excellent communication (written and oral) in English with the ability to express ideas and information clearly; professional proficiency in French or Spanish preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively work with global teams across cultures, work styles, and time zones
- Experience in the social protection sector and/or management of randomized control trials is preferred, but not required
- Experience working in low or middle-income countries preferred, but not required
- Flexible, self-motivating, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and team player
- Current work authorization (citizenship or visa) for one of the following countries: Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, or the US
