Webinar, United States

On April 27, 2021, Smita Das (Program Manager for IPA's Social Protection Program) and Clara Delavallade (Research Economist, Africa Gender Innovation Lab, World Bank) presented at CIES 2021 on a panel titled, "What’s good enough in SEL and Soft Skills Measurement?" Their presentation, titled "Measuring Socio-Emotional Skills for the Workforce in Africa," discussed measures of socio-emotional skills and steps of measure development developed by four teams at IPA, Save the Children, the International Youth Foundation, and World Learning. Their presentation was followed by a panel discussion with others at those respective organizations, where panelists spoke about tough decisions and tradeoffs they made along the way in developing these measures, including responding to the COVID-19 crisis, ethical concerns, local use of measures, and locally-based development processes.
