On March 18, IPA organized a seminar around the "Humanitarian-Development Nexus in the Sahel" at the Institut Supérieur des Sciences de la Population in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

The event emphasized the need for complementary action by donors, implementing partners, and governments to provide meaningful and lasting impact in the context of fragile states, disasters, or conflict. The Nexus approach is one method aimed to improve global coordination of humanitarian and development actors in response to protracted crises. Drawing from qualitative interviews and analyses in Chad, Niger, and Cameroon, the seminar examined the strengths and weaknesses of the Nexus approach in the Sahel. Around twenty local development actors attended the seminar and IPA discussed its upcoming work on violent extremism in the region.
