On February 4, the Vice-Presidency of the Dominican Republic through the Cabinet for Coordination for Social Policy (GCPS), celebrated the first "Forum for the Design of Public Policy Based on Evidence." The event gathered policymakers in the social protection sector and aimed to identify areas of research needs within six broad policy areas: education, early childhood development, health, intimate partner violence, financial inclusion, and youth employment.
From January 20-22, Research Coordinator Maricha Friedman and Research Associate Karoline Hormann presented on IPA's work in the Dominican Republic. The conference “Research Opportunities for the Human Development in the Dominican Republic: Prospects and Challenges 2017-2020," was hosted by J-PAL.
On December 9 and 10, the Vice-Presidency of the Dominican Republic, the Cabinet for Coordination of Social Policy, the National University of Costa Rica, and Innovations for Poverty Action co-organized the workshop "Impact Evaluation: A Methodological View of the Advances in Social Protection in the Past Decade in the Dominican Republic."
The workshop gathered policymakers in the social protection sector and aimed to encourage policymakers to make use of rigorous evidence in their decision-making and share experiences of the implementation of impact evaluations in the country.
